Good news! Everyone! Huddle in! - 2005/11/04 12:41 This thread discusses the Content article: Good news! Everyone! Huddle in!

Okay since I'm thinkin' about it I'm gonna outline some thoughts I've had as to what can be done with the new space.

1) Transfer "The Ramble Box" to another table and set that up as a full phpBBS. I assume the Free Gamez Challenge would move with it. Upside is that phpBBS is a full message board system as opposed to Simpleboard which just sits in Mambo, so it will let us do thing involving avatars, sigantures, titles, post counting, and other message board unique things in ways that Simple board won't. It will also remove the need to be a registered member at www.machvergil.com to visit the boards.

The downshot is that the boards will no longer be linked -- Kitty and I won't be able to write blogg posts and have discussions on them in the boards like this, which frankly I like.

2) Professional Seperation -- which initially ment to me that I'd make www.machvergil.com my portfolio and bump you all up to a subfolder. However, upon more careful consideration, making a www.machvergil.com/portfolio and keeping this fun "friendy!" stuff here makes more sense to me.

3) Gaming community site -- nothing big, just some small dynamic site dedicated to video games and our enjoyment of them. I'd be passing down management privelages to others for this one so I wouldn't be anywhere near the sole content provider. I envision this being a mostly forum driven site, but also allowing for "news articles" and perhaps staff reviews or other things might be fun.

4) "Paying people back" -- I need to get in touch with The Baron of Marquidom and see if I can't aliveate some of his bandwidth issues by hosting some of his stuff... lord knows I owe it to him for all the help he's been when I was too poor and didn't know enough about the web to do this myself.

5) Open consideration -- if any of you are a part of come community that needs a dynamic website or have something you wanna do that MSU's AFS space just isn't good enough for, talk to me and see if I'm up for it. Hosting illegal stuff just straight won't fly so don't even ask.

6) Creative writing community -- I am hesitant to suggest this as to avoid the pains that these were in the past, but it cannot be deined that some of us miss having a place to write and share. Certainly not an attempt to revive favuworld or Ref Power or anything like that, but perhaps just something far less "add-on" or "fan-fiction."

Any thoughts on these? Or is this humble little mambo doing everything we need it to?
