Okay so last night I finished C&C 3’s campaign mode: All three campaigns: Nod first, GDI second, the Scrin (because you have to beat the other two first to do it) third.  Overall I think the game is very good.  C&C3 is not an empty sequel that just rides on the previous success of a series.  No, C&C3 is a true sequel that manages to outshine or at least match up with every facet of the previous games in the series, and this is a tall order for someone like me who was pretty much seduced into the genre by the original Command & Conquer.

So last week I picked up C&C3.  This isn’t because I got tired of Supreme Commander as much as the fan-boy inside of me demanded it.  I did have the e-mail address of "" (it's suspended - don't try e-mailing it) for a while after all.  I’m done with the Nod campaign, and are about 40% through GDI I think.  Once I finish off GDI I’ll move on to the alien Scrin and give them a go.  My plan at that point is to try some skirmishes and then make a call as to which game I’d rather play online: C&C3 or Sup Comm.

More 2007 RTS action PDF Print E-mail

This year is not done with the RTS genre yet.   Just when you thought Supreme Commander and Command & Conquer 3 was enough, there are a bunch more games from this beloved genre on the way before the end of the year.  Still no word from Relic what the ambiguous 2007 reference at the end of Dark Crusade was about however.  I really wish they’d get to announcing that.   A Dawn of War sequel could even further shake things up.

The latest title I’ve taken interest in is Universe at War: Earth Assault.  As you might guess from the name, this title is in development by Petroglyph, the guys who did Star Wars: Empire at War.   In case you never picked that title up (I didn’t), you might also know them as the half of Westwood Studios that did not stay with EA after Command &Conquer :Red Alert 2.

Blacksheep Copyright PDF Print E-mail

Albino Blacksheep has an outstanding article that puts copyright and the internet in some pretty basic, but quite accurate terms.  If you've ever been confused, or think people tend to mis-use terms like "fair use" and "public domain," this is not a bad place to start your search for answers.  The real technical details appear to be missing, but this is a real good lay-man's guide to how copyright and the internet work right now.

Lord knows if I ever get around to doing a regular content peice around here, like a comic or a story, I am going to look into choosing a Creative Commons Licence.

New Poll: The Cage match PDF Print E-mail

I took down the Sup Comm vs C&C3 poll.  Sup Comm was up by 1 vote but I could tell it was turning into the same one or two people voting over and over again so I saw no need to drag it on (that and it had been up for nearly a month).

Now we have a cage match of secret agents and assassins!  Vote the winner!
